The Day After Veterans Day Giving Back To Those That Serve

The Day After Veterans Day â€" Giving Back To Those That Serve Many of you know that I have a special program dedicated to soldiers, marines, sailors and other servicemen/women who are returning from deployment. Why? Because I can. No red tape here. If someone is deployed they get 30 months of premium JibberJobber for free. This assumes they will be gone for 18 months, and gives them an additional 12 months once they are back (whether they are really gone for 18 months or not, I dont care they still get 30 months of premium services). More information at JibberJobber for the Troops. In addition, I am working with a program to also donate premium services to the Wounded Warriors (this is an official non-profit organization). Im really excited about this program because these people have given more than their time, theyve given limbs and future health. From what Ive read, they arent getting much back from our government (at least not what they should be getting), and Ive always wanted to contribute. This is not much, its hardly anything, but its what I can do right now. More information on that coming in the next few months. I am currently looking for corporate sponsors to assist with the JibberJobber for the Troops program (I am not a non-profit). The Wounded Warriors is also looking for sponsors (in addition to JibberJobber services they are providing the Wounded Warriors with career coaching, resume services and more). I am also looking for other programs to support these servicemen/women (not just in the U.S.) if you have any contacts at various organizations that would/could use these services, please let me know. Please contact me if you know anyone or any companies that can contribute to either of these programs. No-Excuse Leadership Tactics For Women with Angie Morgan

No-Excuse Leadership Tactics For Women with Angie Morgan Recently I had the amazing opportunity to interview  Angie Morgan, author of  Leading From the Front: No-Excuse Leadership Tactics for Women. Angie has acquired thousands of hours as a professional speaker and trainer, executive coach and curriculum designer for leading companies and organizations around the globe.  After learning how to lead as a Marine Corps officer, she dedicated her career to helping others develop their leadership skills in order to achieve greater results. Angie has partnered with prominent companies and organizations to develop programs that uniquely address their business needs.  She is recognized as a thought leader in her field and clients routinely seek her guidance to help them translate leadership theory into actions that lead to impact and results. Beyond her contributions to the Lead Star team, she is actively engaged as a Director for the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, where she commits her time to preserving and promulgating the Marine Corps’ history. Here are highlights from the Angie Morgan interview: How can we be decisive and think fast on our feet? You look at where you are, wherever you are, you are the sum of your choices. Your decisions  are probably one of the greatest places in which you exercise personal leadership ability. There is  no such thing as a perfect choice, yet we spend so much time agonizing over perfection with our  decisions. Sometimes the decisions you have to go with just good enough. 80% Solution Apply a decision-making process. You research, seek out your mentors, and gain  feedback. You gain about 80% of the information you need and you make the decision. To think fast, I use the 80% all the time just to move myself forward, because that’s the goal in  making decisions. What are some of the key practices to becoming a powerful leader? Leadership development isn’t a linear process. Your ability to influence and inspire is a deep  awareness of yourself. Get to know yourself. Be comfortable with yourself. Know your value,  your strengths, and your weaknesses. If you can know who you are, you can understand and  relate to other people better as a leader. Leadership is about followers. When you’re communicating to other people directly, your  confidence is an inspiring trait. If you can be authentic, it is really just about being credible. And  you do that by working hard to actually exceed the standards that you ask of  others. Things you can do to learn more about yourself: Any leadership assessment (ex. DISC or Myers-Briggs) Sit down and put a list of what you value and your life priorities How can you start leading your life, rather than allowing your life to lead you? It starts with accountability. When you assume control and responsibility for your choices, things  happen. Suddenly you feel you are in a position for reaction versus proactivity. If you can be  accountable and also responsible for your choices, you can start to think that you can get ahead  and you can start influencing your life and your career. Control what you can control. You can’t control other people. Once you get that mindset about what you can control, the  solution follows. Thanks, Angie!

They have received recognition across the Atlanta area both via print and radio, further establishing their place in the Atlanta resume writing services industry.Pros: They offer sample resumes for you to review right on their website. They aren’t the most modern visually, but the content is on point â€" especially for industries where content is more important than aesthetics.Cons: Their reviews a re all over the place, so you can’t be sure what level of service and quality you’ll be receiving.Turnaround: 7 days. Rush service is available.Cost: Not stated.Phone number: (404) 252-87779. Executive Resumes AtlantaExecutive Resumes Atlanta earned its spot on our list thanks to their steady flow of decent output. Three Questions to Ask Before Studying Online - CareerAlley

Three Questions to Ask Before Studying Online - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. If you are looking to change career path, or to enhance your prospects in your current career, you may be thinking about undertaking a course of online study. This type of course presents an excellent opportunity for you to successfully combine work, family and study. You do not have to completely change your life in order to get the qualification you are seeking. One of the most important aspects of online learning is making sure that you choose the right provider and course for your needs. You can click here for more information. In the meantime, we are going to take you through three questions you should ask yourself before embarking on a course of online learning. Have you got a plan in place? One of the worst things you can do is just wander into a course of online study because you have a vague idea about starting out on a new career or furthering your current one. As with most things in life, an online study course is unlikely to lead to success unless you have some sort of plan in place. If you want to study in order to change your career path then you need to do some comprehensive research into your potential new career, to find out what you need to achieve from your course. You also need to plan your time and finances so that you know how much you can commit to a course; remember it is important to be realistic. Does the provider offer what you need? Once you know what qualifications you need, and how much time and money you have to invest, it is time to find the right provider for you. You need to always be asking the question, does this provider give me what I need? Reputable online study providers will usually provide an outline of their courses on their website; they will also normally be available to answer any questions you have. It is important that you feel comfortable with your choice of provider so make sure you take your time and fully consider your decision. Are you choosing the right course? Choosing a course is a decision that you really need to make at the same time as you are choosing a provider. For this reason it is important that you already know what skills and qualifications you need. Having a plan in place helps you with this as you should have already done your research. Once you know what you need from a course then it is just a case of searching through available courses and choosing the course and provider that best suits your needs. Studying online is an excellent option if you want to change career, or enhance the one you have. All you have to do is make sure you ask the right questions before you start in order to give yourself the best possible chance of success. We are always eager to hear from our readers. Are You Missing Whats Right In Front Of You

Are You Missing Whats Right In Front Of You Are You Missing Whats Right In Front Of You? If you’re feeling stuck in your job search, it might be time to take a fresh look. This may mean changing your perspective, stepping in a little closer or taking a step back. It may mean considering the idea of doing things a different way. I read a lot of books. Not a lot of fiction. Primarily books that will help me improve my services or help me improve myself. Right now, I’m reading a book on mindfulness by Joseph Goldstein cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society. In the beginning of chapter six, I came across a passage that particularly caught my attention. It immediately resonated with me and I thought it would do the same for people who are frustrated in their job-search efforts. Goldstein tells a story of a man engaged in trade between the city where he lived and a neighboring country. His business efforts required him to regularly cross borders. Although border officials suspected that he was smuggling goods, whenever they searched his donkey’s saddlebags they could never find anything of value. Finally one of man’s friends asked him how we was becoming wealthy. The man replied, “I’m smuggling donkeys.”* Talk about hiding things in plain sight. The border officials never even considered the donkey because their job was to search bags for contraband. They missed what was in front of their eyes because they were so used to doing things a particular way. It made me realize how often we all miss things that are right in front of us. It made me think about how often people scrambling to find a job don’t take a closer look at what they’re actually doing. What’s working and what’s not. Think about it. Do you have a job-search plan or is every day filled with random activities? Are you targeting employers or spending all day at the computer on job boards? Is your resume a boring “employment history” or is it a marketing tool that demonstrates value? Do you research the company you’ll be interviewing with and the people you’ll be meeting with? When you go into a job interview, do you focus on what you’ve accomplished or how you can solve the hiring manager’s problems? Take some time to think about it. While it seems that the economy is improving, I regularly talk with people who are out of work. Many are discouraged. If that sounds like you it’s time to take a closer look at your job search efforts. Could be it’s time to try something new. *Adapted from Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Awakening by Joseph Goldstein.
